Scholarships and grants

SPIE – the international society for optics and photonics – awards education scholarships every year to students studying optics and photonics. The amounts range from 3,000 to 11,000 dollars, covering study materials, courses and research expenses.

Any student of the department who is an SPIE member can apply. The department has run an SPIE student chapter since 2001 – membership is arranged through it. Our students have won these scholarships almost every year since 2008 – at least seventeen people, some twice or three times.

Together with Chemnitz University of Technology, within the DAAD project “Support for Physics Education and Research in Ukraine”, the university offers the Faculty of Physics two kinds of scholarships.

A monthly scholarship for the optional programme “Physics of Advanced Semiconductor Materials” – taught remotely, open to students of all years. On completion, a corresponding note appears in your diploma.

A scholarship for master’s students for a two-month research internship in Chemnitz with travel costs reimbursed.

The Hrytseniuk and Melenevskyi science and technology charitable fund pays a named scholarship to those admitted to the Optics programme of the Faculty of Physics. Payments are monthly and start from the second month of study.

This is a scholarship for first-year bachelor students: it comes on top of a state-funded place, not instead of it.
